Today’s bit of wisdom comes from 19th-century Scottish preacher William Arnot, whose sermons drew richly from both the parables of Jesus and the teachings of Paul to the early Christian communities.
Perhaps the greatest lack in our world today is the loss of a sense of relationships. We look out for ourselves and hopefully our families, but often have little true connection even with those we call friends. Like Jesus and Paul, Arnot uses very accessible analogies to make his point. How often does our quest for the complicated overlook the obvious!
